A trained dancer who turned to music after a career-altering injury, she has released the album Gemini In Mars (2023) and singles including 'Grateful,' 'Rush Acoustic,' 'The Night,' and 'Feel.' Her sound draws from R&B, neo-soul, jazz, funk, and gospel. Based in Los Angeles, she has appeared on screen in A Life Unwritten, Daisy in the Gun's Chamber, and The Recruit.
Taquirah is a multi-hyphenate artist — singer, songwriter, actor, choreographer, and model — whose work moves fluidly between sound and stillness. Originally from Illinois and trained as a dancer who performed internationally, she turned to music after a career-altering concussion sustained while dancing in Russia. In that forced stillness, she discovered a new voice — channeling the discipline of movement into songwriting and performance.
Drawing from R&B, neo-soul, jazz, funk, and gospel, Taquirah crafts songs that are deeply personal yet universally resonant — exploring love, resilience, gratitude, and self-discovery. Her debut single 'Lonely' set the trajectory for a music career now spanning six years. In 2023 she released her debut album Gemini In Mars, an 11-track exploration of duality and transformation. Recent releases include 'Grateful' — a powerful Tiny Desk audition featuring producer Daru Jones — and 'Rush Acoustic,' a jazzy meditation on patience in love.
Beyond music, Taquirah has expanded into film with credits including A Life Unwritten (2025), Daisy in the Gun's Chamber (2025), The Recruit (2023), and Actors (2021). She continues to model and choreograph, bringing the same raw authenticity to every creative endeavor. She is based in Los Angeles.
Taquirah is a multi-hyphenate artist — singer, songwriter, actor, choreographer, and model — whose artistry transcends the boundaries between sound and movement. Her work, drawn from a deep well of R&B, neo-soul, jazz, funk, and gospel, is personal and expansive: songs that read like diary entries but land like anthems.
Originally from Illinois, Taquirah's path into music began through her body. A trained dancer who performed internationally, she experienced a career-altering concussion while dancing in Russia that left her unable to perform the complex choreography that had defined her young life. In that forced stillness, she found a new instrument — turning to poetry and songwriting as a means of expression and healing. "Music became my freedom," she has said. "When my body couldn't move the way it used to, I found that my voice could carry everything I needed to say."
Her debut single 'Lonely,' released independently on SoundCloud, garnered unexpected attention and set the trajectory for a music career that now spans six years. In 2023, Taquirah released her debut album Gemini In Mars — an 11-track exploration of duality, transformation, and the in-between spaces where identity is forged. The record marked her arrival as a fully formed artist, drawing press from Paper Magazine, Bongmines Entertainment, ExtravaFrench, and Ramona Magazine.
Recent releases trace a continuing evolution. 'Grateful,' her powerful Tiny Desk audition featuring producer Daru Jones, hardened her reputation as a live performer. 'Rush Acoustic,' a jazzy love letter about the patience love demands, drew international press. 2025 and 2026 brought 'The Night,' 'Feel,' 'I See (feat. Lutshi),' and 'Gratefulness,' each a small, complete world.
Beyond music, Taquirah has built a substantive on-screen body of work. Recent acting credits include A Life Unwritten (2025) and Daisy in the Gun's Chamber (2025), following earlier appearances in The Recruit (2023) and Actors (2021). She continues to model and choreograph — the throughline being a refusal to stay in one lane, and a willingness to bring the same raw, unguarded presence to every form she touches.
Based in Los Angeles, Taquirah is currently performing across the U.S., with recent and upcoming dates in New York and LA. She is available for live booking, press, and creative collaboration.
